Used Nissan SUVs for Sale on Cape Cod
The advantages of buying used vehicles can really outweigh the advantages of buying brand-new – sometimes quite significantly. While new cars come equipped with the latest technology (and that satisfying new-car smell), they’re obviously going to cost more than a comparable secondhand vehicle, both on the sticker price and in the ongoing cost of ownership. For starters, insurance rates are higher, and when it’s time for maintenance, replacement parts can be more expensive than you’re used to because of the advanced technology. New vehicles are also plagued by high depreciation right off the lot. Used cars, on the other hand, are less expensive, don’t take massive depreciation blows, offer more in terms of variety with model-year availability, and can now easily be checked for their crash and repair history so that drivers know what they are getting into.
With the skyrocketing costs of new vehicles, it’s no wonder why buyers are turning over to the pre-owned option. According to Kelley Blue Book, the average cost of a new vehicle is around $37,000, while the cost of a used vehicle is in the $20,000 range. New SUVs, in particular, are quite expensive given their increased size and capabilities. With a SUV just a few years old, though, buyers can find similarly decked-out vehicles for much less. For example, a brand-new Nissan Rogue SL, while it’s already moderately priced for a top trim level, has a starting MSRP of $31,490. A three-year-old 2016 Nissan Rogue SL with approximately 47,000 miles, according to Carfax, is priced in the $18,000 range. This represents an almost $13,000 difference for just three years, for a vehicle that has tons of life left in it.
Buying used can be a difficult choice sometimes, just because some people feel that it’s a risk. With the uncertainty of whether or not the vehicle has been properly maintained over the years or has been in any collisions, potential buyers can feel confident with Nissan’s certified pre-owned program. With this, Nissan ensures that the used vehicle has been thoroughly checked and is ready for more years on the road.
In order to be registered as certified pre-owned, the vehicle must undergo a comprehensive 167-point inspection from a Nissan-exclusive trained mechanic who knows the ins and outs of the specific vehicles. In addition to the rigorous inspection process, each certified pre-owned Nissan includes a Carfax vehicle history report, which includes title information, including salvaged or junked titles, flood damage history, total loss accident history, odometer readings, number of owners, accident indicators, inspection results, and more. The warranty is also extended seven years from the original in-service date of the vehicle, or 100,000 total miles. The emergency roadside assistance for the same period is included.
